Dying cells trigger a "fire alarm" by releasing messenger molecules such as cytokines to recruit immune cells and coordinate tissue repair. The ERC now funds the project "FIREALARM", for deciphering the molecular basis of these inflammatory reactions with about 2 million Euros.

New paper by the Meissner lab

Our paper entitled "Proteomics revealed distinct mechanisms regulating the release of cytokinesis and alarmins during pyroptosis" is out in Cell Reports! We use mass spectrometry-based secretomics to dissect protein release routes of macrophage pyroptosis.

Merry christmas from the III

With the COVID-19 pandemic, it's hard to get into the Christmas spirit this year. But we wanted to do something to brighten the spirit of our people, so we organized a Secret Santa! Everyone is getting excited to find out today what they received!

Virtual escape room

The constant lock-down is taking its toll, but we are trying to make the most out of it. Thanks to the Bonner Forum Biomedicine, we had so much fun solving the puzzle and trying to escape.
