Bio Summary

Maria Obtained her BSc- and MSc in Molecular Medicine at Aarhus University, Denmark. One year into her master studies, in 2013, she started as a PhD student in the lab of Søren Riis Paludan where she investigated the activation of the cGAS-STING pathway upon herpes virus infection. Maria obtained her PhD degree in April 2017 and the same year joined the Schmidt lab as a postdoc. Here, she investigates innate immune signaling by use of recombinant reporter viruses, with a focus on inflammasome activation. From 2018 to 2020 Maria had a postdoc fellowship from the Independent research fund Denmark and in 2020 she received the Argelander research grant from the University of Bonn
