Katharina Sieckmann works on unraveling the role of the primary cilium in the adipose tissue. Here, she is focusing on the ciliated pre-adipocyte subpopulation, trying to uncover how ciliary signaling leads the cell fate decision making process. Katharina uses approaches of the “wet” and “dry” lab, analyzing single-cell and bulk RNAseq data, while testing her hypothesis using mouse lines and cell culture.
Katharina Sieckmann's PhD is funded by the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes.
