Frederik Eikens began his laboratory work at the German Sports University in Cologne with experimental exercise interventions to treat hypertensive disorders. Now, he is involved in fundamental research emphasizing neuroinflammation in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease. His current work at the University Hospital Bonn and German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases predominantly focuses the study of interaction sites between brain resident neuronal and immunologic populations.
