This is a question that Bonn schoolchildren will be able to explore in a podcast series.
We have convinced with our communication idea in the Germany-wide university competition "Show your research!" and are among the ten winning teams in 2021. The aim of this year's competition, which is organized by the "Science in Dialog" initiative, is to promote projects that deal with dwindling resources, environmental pollution and the climate crisis and to enter into a dialog with the public on these issues. The competition is thematically embedded in the Science Year 2020/ 21 - Bioeconomy. The projects are funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
Our award-winning project "Nutrition in the School Podcast" is all about the topics of nutrition and health, eating habits and the sustainable aspects of nutrition in the 21st century. With our support, the pupils of a 10th grade class will deal with the topics in terms of content and communicate the whole thing in eight successive podcast episodes.
The young people do not keep their knowledge to themselves, however, but share it on podcast platforms such as podcast.de or Spotify. Active dialogue with diverse target groups will also take place via TikTok and Instagram.
...it's all about Science Communication!
